The Flynn name has a long association with Heathcote. In the 1970s John Flynn and Laurie Williams established a 2-ha vineyard next door to Mount Ida Vineyard, on the rich, red Cambrian soil. It produced some spectacular wines before being sold in 1983. Greg and Natala Flynn (no relation to John Flynn) spent 18 months searching for their property, 13 km north of Heathcote on the same red Cambrian soil. They have established shiraz, sangiovese, verdelho, cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Greg is a Roseworthy marketing graduate, and has had 22 years working on the coalface of retail and wholesale businesses, interweaving eight years of vineyard and winemaking experience, supplemented by the two-year Bendigo TAFE winemaking course. Just for good measure, wife Natala joined Greg for the last eight years of vineyard and winemaking, and likewise completed the TAFE course.
