Lake George Winery was sold by founder Dr Edgar Riek some years ago. The plantings of 40-year-old chardonnay, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon, semillon and merlot have been joined by shiraz and tempranillo, pinot gris, viognier, pinot noir and malbec. In March 2008 Lake George acquired the Madew vineyard, providing yet more grape resources. The winemaking techniques include basket-pressing and small batch barrel maturation under the expert eyes of consultant winemaker Alex McKay. Exports to China.
