Long Rail Gully Wines

New South Wales | Canberra District

Our Review

Long Rail Gully is operated by the Parker family, established by Barbara and Garry Parker, who began the planting of the 24ha vineyard in 1998. The plantings comprise shiraz (8ha), cabernet sauvignon (4ha), merlot, riesling and pinot gris (3.5ha each) and pinot noir (1.5ha). Winemaker son Richard studied winemaking at CSU, and was responsible for selecting the natural amphitheatre site for the vineyard, designing the layout, and supervising the planting. He also operates a successful contract winemaking business for wineries in Orange, Hilltops, Cowra and locally. -JAMES HALLIDAY
