James' Review

Former schoolteachers Bill and Wendy Lawson have established Catherine Vale as a not-so- idle retirement venture. The lion’s share of the vineyard planting is chardonnay and semillon, with smaller amounts of verdelho, arneis, dolcetto and barbera. The Lawsons chose to plant the latter three varieties after visiting the Piedmont region of Italy, pioneering the move to these varieties in the Hunter Valley. Exports to Japan.

Catherine Vale has a Cellar Door for wine sells but the winey is located in Muswellbrook where the wines are made under contract to Hunter Wine Services under the leadership of John Hordern.

Specialties

We specialize in Italian Varieties from the Piedmont region of Italy.
Arneis- " The little Rascal"- we are the only grower in the Hunter Valley of this variety. It is presently on V Australia on the US run to Los Angeles and return

Barbera - a medium bodied red with aging potential

Dolcetto -The Little Sweet One" that makes a dry wine
