Generations of the Jamieson family have been graziers in the region for 150 years, and were able to select 100 ha of the most suitable soil from their property on which to establish their vineyard. Beginning in 1998, they have planted over 32 ha of shiraz, almost 24 ha of cabernet sauvignon and 12 ha of chardonnay, with smaller amounts of semillon, petit verdot, sauvignon blanc, merlot and barbera. Until 2005 all of the grapes were sold to leading wineries in the region, but beginning in ’06 small amounts of chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, semillon, shiraz and petit verdot were held back for the Jamieson Estate label.
