The Forbes family has been farming Zilzie Estate since the early 1990s; it is currently run by Ian and Ros Forbes, and sons Steven and Andrew. A diverse range of farming activities now includes grapegrowing from substantial vineyards. Having established a position as a dominant supplier of grapes to Southcorp, Zilzie formed a wine company in 1999 and built a winery in 2000, expanding it in ’06 to its current capacity of 35 000 tonnes. The wines consistently far exceed expectations given their prices. The business includes contract processing, winemaking and storage. Exports to the UK, the US, Canada and Hong Kong.
