The definitive guide to Australian Wines
Rowlee first evolved as a grazing property of 2000 acres in the 1850s. It is now 80 acres, but still with the original homestead built circa 1880. The property has retired from its grazing days and is now home to 20 acres of vineyards, first planted in 2000 by the Samodol family. Varieties include pinot noir, pinot gris, nebbiolo, arneis, chardonnay, riesling and sauvignon blanc. The Rowlee vineyard is situated on the sloping northerly face of an extinct volcano, Mt Canobolas, and at 920m is rich in basalt soils. Wine production commenced in 2013, in partnership with viticulturist Tim Esson and family.
