The Lorentz family,then headed by Gabi Lorentz, began the establishment of the Cherry Tree Hill vineyard in 2000 with the planting of 3 ha each of cabernet sauvignon and riesling; 3 ha each of merlot and sauvignon blanc followed in ’01, and, finally, 2 ha of chardonnay in ’02. The inspiration was childhood trips on a horse and cart through his grandfather’s vineyard in Hungary, and Gabi’s son (and current owner) David completes the three-generation involvement as manager of the business.

Cherry Tree Hill is a family owned and run boutique vineyard located in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, one of the newest wine growing regions in Australia. The cool climate and rich soil synonymous to the region lend themselfs perfectly to the growth of premium quality grapes. CTH currently have 4 medal winining grape varieties, the most predigious being our Riesling, which has gone gold, and medalled at such shows as the Sydney Royal, Boutique Wine Awards and the International Riesling Challenge. Our Cabernet Merlot has also medalled at the Sydney Royal. This year we will be releasing a Reserve range of wines consisting of a Hungarian Oaked Chardonnay along with two amazing reds, a straight Cabernet and straight Merlot.
