James' Review

The ultra-cool Kuitpo vineyard in the Adelaide Hills was planted by Geoff Hardy in 1987 after searching the hills for an ideal location for premium wine production. As this was the first significant vineyard planted in the region it became known as the K1 Vineyard. All fruit for Geoff Hardy’s K1 brand is sourced from this vineyard, perched on the southwestern ridge of the Adelaide Hills above McLaren Vale. Exports to the US, Canada, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

About this winery

In 1987, Geoff Hardy - a fifth generation descendant of the South Australian wine pioneer, Thomas Hardy - finally found his ideal site for the production of outstanding cool climate grapes in the Adelaide Hills.

The vineyard became known as the K1 Vineyard as this unique, groundbreaking site was the first commercial planting of vines in the Kuitpo (pronounced 'ky-po') region.

Today, the K1 by Geoff Hardy wines are considered to be amongst some of Australia's finest ultra-premium, single estate wines. Geoff and his family continue their work to keep it that way and to make sure that the K1 Cellar Door maintains its reputation as one of Australia's leading cellar door experiences.
