Jeffrey Grosset has assumed the unchallenged mantle of Australias foremost Riesling maker in the wake of John Vickery stepping back to a consultancy role for Richmond Grove. Grossets pre-eminence in Riesling making is recognised both domestically and internationally; however, he merits equal recognition for the other wines in his portfolio: Semillon Sauvignon Blanc from Clare Valley/Adelaide Hills, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from the Adelaide Hills; and Gaia, a Bordeaux blend from the Clare Valley. These are all benchmarks. His quietly spoken manner conceals a steely will. Trial plantings (2ha) of fiano, aglianico, nero dAvola and petit verdot suggest some new wines may be gestating. Exports to all major markets.
