Dowie Doole was born of the frustration following the 1995 vintage, which led friends and grapegrowers Norm Doole and Drew Dowie to form a partnership to take control over the destiny of their grapes. In ’98, Leigh Gilligan, a McLaren Vale veteran, was appointed to take overall control of the business, and joined the partnership. Right from the outset the wines have been made by Brian Light at Boar’s Rock, while Norm oversees the Norjan Vineyard in McLaren Vale, and Drew’s wife, Lulu Lunn, is in charge of viticultural operations at Tintookie Vineyard at Blewitt Springs. Dowie Doole has direct or indirect interest in five vineyards, all of which are managed using sustainable viticultural practices. Exports to the UK, the U, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong and China.
