The 1992 merger of Thomas Hardy and the Berri Renmano group may well have had some elements of a forced marriage when it took place, but the merged group prospered mightily over the next 10 years. So successful was it that a further marriage followed in early 2003, with Constellation Wines of the US the groom, and BRL Hardy the bride, creating the largest wine group in the world (the Australian arm of the business is known as Constellation Wines, or CWA), but is now part of the Accolade Wines group. The Hardys wine brands are headed by Eileen Hardy Chardonnay and Shiraz and Thomas Hardy Cabernet Sauvignon; then the Sir James range of sparkling wines; next the HRB Riesling, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet; then the expanded Oomoo range; and at the bottom of the price pyramid, the Chronicles wines. Exports to all major markets.
