Three generations of the Pooley family have been involved in the development of Pooley Wines, although the winery was previously known as Cooinda Vale. Plantings have now reached over 12 ha in a region that is warmer and drier than most people realise. In 2003 the family planted pinot noir and pinot grigio (with more recent plantings of pinot noir and chardonnay) at Belmont Vineyard, a heritage property with an 1830s Georgian home and a second cellar door in the old sandstone barn and stables.

The Late Denis and Margaret Pooley established our small vineyard at Cooinda Vale in 1985. There are now 3 generations of Pooleys involved in the business and the entire vineyard is now under the care and supervision of the manager Matthew Pooley(grandson) Wine making techniques are New world but incorporates traditional methods with our Reserve range. The result being a range of boutique wines that regularly win awards around Australia finding favour because of the quality and final freshness in these exciting wines.
The first grapes were planted in 1985 at Campania. Riesling, Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay are our specialities and make up the majority of our 12 hectares af vines. However we do also have smaller quantities of Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz which will see us make wine on exceptional vintages.

Our tasting room is a converted stone stable and the blacksmiths shop is now the bathroom. We are delighted to be able to share with you Belmont Lodge. Stay awhile, relax, taste our cool climate wines and enjoy a local cheese plate or great coffee while taking in the ambience of this convict built 1832 Georgian home.
