Patrick and Kirsten Hardiker moved to Tynong North in 1988, initially grazing beef cattle, but aware of the viticultural potential of the sandy clay loam and bleached subsurface soils weathered from the granite foothills of the Black Snake Ranges. Plantings began in 1997, using organically based cultivation methods; varieties include pinot noir, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, merlot and cabernet sauvignon. The family decided to make its own wine, and established the winery in an old farm barn built in the early 1900s by the Weatherhead family, from timber of Weatherhead Hill (visible from the vineyard). It also houses the cellar door.
