Grampians
www.clayfieldwines.com
Former long-serving Best’s winemaker Simon Clayfield and wife Kaye are now doing their own thing. They planted 2 ha of shiraz and merlot between 1997 and ’99, later adding 0.1 ha of durif. Additional grapes are purchased from local growers and, when the quality is appropriate, incorporated in the Grampians Shiraz. Production is modest, but the quality is high.
