The wheel of fortune has turned full circle with son Rollo Crittenden returning to the (new) family wine business established by father Garry in 2003. In so doing, both father and son have severed ties with Dromana Estate, the old family business. For good measure, the Crittendens have taken a lease on a modern winery in Patterson Lakes, approximately 20 mins north of their Dromana property. Capable of handling 200 tonnes of grapes, more than that required by Crittenden Estate, it has enabled Rollo to develop Latitude 38, a contract-winemaking business. He was named Young Gun Australian Winemaker of the Year ’10. Exports to the UK.

Crittenden Estate is a family established and owned winery based at Dromana on the Mornington Peninsula. Estate vineyards are almost 30 years in age, some of the oldest vines on the Peninsula. Garry, founder and father, has been in the wine industry since the early '80s and was at the forefront of the emergence and acceptance of Italian varietals in Australia. His son, Rollo, is following in his footsteps with the Los Hermanos range of Spanish wines which have received accolades for the quality of the wine and quirky labels. Rollo now makes all of the wine at a leased winery based north of the Peninsula in Patterson Lakes. Rollo's sister Zoe is also involved and takes care of anything marketing related.
Specialities include alternative varieties, both Spanish and Italian in origin and include: tempranillo, savagnin, sangiovese, arneis and moscato. Rollo still can't get past pinot noir, however, and makes 3 at different levels, all receiving positive feedback for their price points.
