This is the micro-venture (but with inbuilt future growth to something slightly larger) of Allen (now full-time winemaker) and Andrea (viticulturist) Hart. Having purchased the property in 1998, planting shiraz, riesling, tempranillo, grenache, chardonnay and marsanne began in 2000. Given Allen’s former post as research scientist/winemaker with Foster’s, the attitude taken to winemaking is unexpected. The estate-grown wines are made in a low-tech fashion, without gas cover or filtration. The one concession to technology, say the Harts, is that ‘all wine will be sealed with a screwcap and no DogRock wine will ever be released under natural cork bark’.
