Ros Ritchie Wines

Ros Ritchie was winemaker at the Ritchie family’s Delatite winery from '81–06, but moved on to establish her own winery with husband John in ’08 on a vineyard near Mansfield. They became shareholders in Barwite Vineyards in ’12 (planted to chardonnay, pinot noir, riesling, pinot gris and shiraz) and in ’14 established their new winery there. Apart from gewurztraminer (grown at Dead Man’s Hill Vineyard), they work with local growers, foremost the Barwite, McFadden, Timbertop and Baxendale Vineyards, the last planted by the very experienced viticulturist Jim Baxendale (and wife Ruth) high above the King River Valley. All vineyards are managed with minimal spray regimes. The cellar door is located at the historic Magnolia House at Mansfield. -JAMES HALLIDAY
