The quality arm of the bustling De Bortoli group, run by Leanne De Bortoli and husband Steve Webber, ex-Lindemans winemaker. The top label (De Bortoli),the second (Gulf Station) and the third label (Windy Peak) offer wines of consistently good quality and excellent value – the complex Chardonnay and the Pinot Noirs are usually of outstanding quality. The volume of production, by many times the largest in the Yarra Valley, simply underlines the quality/ value for money ratio of the wines. This arm of the business has vineyards in theYarra and King valleys. Steve retired as chairman of judges at the Melbourne Wine Show in 2011, having made many far-sighted changes to the schedule. At De Bortoli a “hands on’ approach in the vineyard and “hands off” approach in the winery reflects the family philosophy of allowing fruit and terroir to be fully expressed in every bottle.The De Bortoli Estate is one of the largest in the Yarra Valley with more than 240 hectares under vine.
Our Cellar Door Sales and Cheese Shop is open every day from 10am to 5pm.Cellar Door Sales provides a welcoming environment with historic family photos and old winery equipment.We also have our own Cheese maturation room whereby we mature Australian and Overseas cheese in a wonderful cave-like environment.The name Locale (pron Low-car-leh), reflects not only the De Bortoli family's Italian heritage but also the restaurant's philosophy of sourcing the best local, seasonal and organic produce. Open Thursday to Monday for lunch, and Saturday for dinner from 6.30pm

In our restaurant, Locale, archival pictures of the De Bortoli family, framed and hung on the wall, add a sense of history to the place. Add a wine list that highlights De Bortoli�s award winning Yarra Valley wines alongside some of the best that the rest of the country and the world have to offer and you have a restaurant that truly is devoted to the good tastes that spring from the local earth and how those flavours are unique to and representative of this particular part of the world.
