Larry Cherubino has had a particularly distinguished winemaking career, first at Hardys Tintara, then Houghton, and thereafter as consultant/Flying Winemaker in Australia, NZ, South Africa, the US and Italy. In 2005 he started Larry Cherubino Wines and has developed three ranges: at the top is Cherubino (Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon); next The Yard, five single vineyard wines from WA; and at the bottom the Ad Hoc label, all single-region wines. The range and quality of his wines is extraordinary, the prices irresistible. The runaway success of the business (owned by Larry and wife Edwina) has seen the accumulation of 70ha of vineyards, the appointment of two additional winemakers, and Larrys own appointment of Director of Winemaking at Robert Oatley Vineyards. The number of wines rated at 94 points and above (19) is far greater than those of any other producer in a single year since the inception of my annual review in 1986. Exports to the UK, the US, Canada, Ireland, Switzerland, Hong Kong and NZ.

Larry is renowned for his passionate commitment to maximising wine quality in both vineyard and winery, his state of the art technical knowledge and for having a highly developed understanding of modern wine styles. A graduate of Roseworthy College, Larry had a distinguished career with BRL Hardy at Tintara in South Australia and then at Houghton in Western Australia, where his wines won hundreds of awards in the highly competitive Australian and International wine show system.A few years ago Larry and his partner Edwina started their own range of wines based on Western Australian vineyards, under the Ad Hoc, The Yard and Cherubino labels. Larry also operates a winemaking consulting business, working with wineries in Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
