Halliday Sip Series - Top 100

7 Nov, 2018

The Halliday Sip Series celebrated its second successful event last Sunday at the Mercedes me Store along Collins Street, Melbourne. Guests were welcome to a selection of highly rated wines that had recently featured on James Halliday’s 2018 Top 100 Wines of the Year list. Other bottles from the awarded wineries were welcome to the show, bringing together a widespread selection of Australia's finest varieties.

As guests lined-up in anticipation, they spoke amongst themselves of the wines they were eager to taste, flipping through the latest edition of  The Australian  that published the list in its own section spread.

The venue sprawled across two levels and downstairs marked the main floor. Here, winemakers congregated in an intimate setting to present their best bottles to the crowds. Tyrrell’s Wines, Giant Steps, Paxton, Patritti and Clover Hill were just few of the 19 wineries that poured on Sunday.

Standout varieties on the day included 2012 Clover Hill Cuvee Exceptionelle Blanc de Blancs, 2017 Robert Oatley Margaret River Cabernet Sauv, and 2015 Tahbilk Old Vines Cabernet Shiraz.

Moving upstairs, VIP guests were seated in the main dining area for three masterclasses that ran throughout the day. The classes were led by John Irvine from Tahbilk, Tom Donegan from Voyager, and James Mungall and Ben Heidi from Patritti.

Chocolates by GODIVA as well as cheese and charcuterie boxes circulated the floor and accompanied glasses. Building off Sunday's success, The Halliday Sip Series will continue to run as a regular Halliday event. Subscribe to our newsletter to be kept in the loop.
