Brown Brothers to celebrate 30 years of Spring Festival

From: 18 Nov 2016 Until: 20 Nov 2016

Authored by: Amelia Ball

In just a few weeks, Brown Brothers will celebrate their 30th annual Spring Wine & Food Festival as part of the Victorian King Valley’s wider La Dolce Vita weekend being held over Friday, November 18 to Sunday, November 20. A jam-packed schedule of dinner events, wine-matched lunches, masterclasses and more offers a brilliant way to get to know the family winery and this North East Victorian region.

The highlight dinner opening the festival this year is a collaborative feast from Brown Brothers chef Douglas Elder (who picked up the winery’s inaugural Chef’s Hat this year for Patricia’s Table Restaurant) and acclaimed Indigenous chef Clayton Donovan. The pair have visited local producers and planned the menu together, serving up a fantastic showcase of the region and their skills. Tickets are $135 a head, available here.

On the Saturday and Sunday, there will be a three-course lunch. Hosted by Brown Brothers chief winemaker Joel Tilbrook and fourth-generation winemaker Katherine Brown, the hosts will each show you some special wines from the family cellar and take you behind-the-scenes to their favourite places on-site. They will also share a few of the standout wines from the collection. Tickets for these lunches are $110 ($100 for Epicurean members).

Join the festival for a taste of the full Brown Brothers range, including the new 18 Eighty Nine Dry Rosé, which will be poured at a dedicated rosé bar over the weekend. The dry wine style is a favourite over the warmer months and will be complemented by specially prepared bites designed to match.

Other events over the weekend include a shiraz masterclass, while the region’s top produce will be served up in various dishes in the family winery’s barn, which is being converted into a food hall for the festival. The kids are covered with a range of activities, while live music will set the mood. Find a spot, set up a picnic, settle in and soak up the atmosphere.

By buying a festival glass through La Dolce Vita, visitors will be able to access the wines of the 11 participating wineries over the weekend. Discounted early-bird tickets and further details are available at
