The definitive guide to Australian Wines

What a glorious Meursault, ravishingly fresh, yet progressively building layers of sweet citrus and white peach fruit as it travels along the palate towards the finish and aftertaste. The faintly grainy acidity is perfectly pitched, and leaves no doubt the wine (with its screwcap, the closure making the decision to buy the wine even easier) will amble gracefully through the next 10 years. By which time it should be at the ultimate sweet spot of mature white Burgundy, without any of the oxidation or taint issues that are otherwise endemic in 10-year-old white Burgundies. The price is almost ridiculously low - or, on the glass half full basis, an outstanding bargain. RRP $160; best found through Prince Wine Store, United Cellars and best found through Winestar, (http://www.winestar.com.au).
