The definitive guide to Australian Wines

2012 Domaine Rémi Jobard Meursault Les Chevalières – my cup runneth over; a Meursault under screwcap, and not just any Meursault, here made by one of the members of the distinguished Jobard family. It is almost extravagantly juicy, with a pure stream of fruit coursing through and around the mouth, oak no doubt present, but well and truly in the back seat. It is perfectly pitched acidity that carries the fruit so convincingly, the finish long and expansive.
The really exciting thing about the wine is (or will be) its future development, free from the pervasive risk of oxidation which has been the scourge of White Burgundies since the mid-1990s. Oven-roasted fresh salmon was a perfect match. RRP $120, available from Fourth Wave Wine Partners (fourthwavewine.com.au), along with 2012 Domaine Rémi Jobard Meursault Les Genevrières 1er Cru (RRP $160), 2012 Domaine Rémi Jobard Meursault Le Poruzot Dessus 1er Cru (RRP $160) and 2012 Domaine Rémi Jobard Meursault Sous la Velle (RRP $95).
