The definitive guide to Australian Wines
The Samodol family established Rowlee vineyard in 2000. The 8ha vineyard sits in ancient volcanic soils, 950m above sea level exposed to the cool climate and unique topography of the Orange region. Plantings include arneis, chardonnay, gewurtztraminer, pinot gris, riesling, sauvignon blanc, nebbiolo and pinot noir. Rowlee’s single vineyard wines are harvested by hand and crafted in small batches, the aim to make 'delicious' wine under a philosophy of minimal intervention and sustainable methods. Winemaking commenced in 2013 in co-operation with viticulturalist, Tim Esson and winemaker, PJ Charteris. Nicole Samodol and her partner James Manny came onboard full-time in ’17, collaborating with experienced local winemakers Chris Derrez and Lucy Maddox.
