The definitive guide to Australian Wines
Chaffey Bros was co-founded by Daniel Chaffey Hartwig, whose great-uncle Bill Chaffey founded Seaview Wines in McLaren Vale, and who was himself a descendant of the Chaffey brothers who came to Australia to create the Riverina and Riverland regions by designing and implementing the original irrigation schemes. Daniel, born and raised in the Barossa Valley, picked grapes during school holidays, and later on worked at Penfolds' cellar door. After eight years of selling and helping other people create wine labels, he became a bulk wine merchant dealing in both Australian and overseas wines and wineries and also developing a range of branded wines. Exports to Canada, Denmark, The Netherlands, Singapore, Macau, Hong Kong and China.

Winemaker Daniel Chaffey Hartwig is the most recent of the Chaffey Brothers’ descendants to ply the ancient trade. Barossa born and bred, he was immersed in the wine business from an early age and spent 11 years working as a wine consultant to Australia’s leading winemakers. The birth of Chaffey Bros. Wine Co. represents the fruition of a life-long dream. In 2012 Daniel was joined by brother-in-law Theo Engela as the other “Chaffey Brother”.
Our passion for the Barossa Valley encompasses Shiraz, Cabernet, Grenache, Tempranillo and Mourvèdre. From the Eden Valley, its the aromatic white varietals that excite us! Namely, Riesling, Gewürztraminer & Weißer Herold. Finally, we are actively building expertise in Eden Valley Shiraz as a counterpoint to the expression of the valley floor.
