Hoklas Family Vineyard

South Australia | Barossa Valley

Our Review

The property on which the micro vineyard is established, has been in the Hoklas family since 1860, and it is known that a vineyard was planted on the property in the 1890s (a time of boom) and removed in the 1900s, possibly due to the First World War. In 2001 fifth generation Dean and wife Julie, together with sons Caleb and Isaac, planted 0.7ha of shiraz and 0.3ha of cabernet sauvignon, and the vineyard has since been trained, pruned and hand-picked by the family and friends. Dean, with 15 years of winery experience, manages the winemaking, making the wines in a restored stone barn built in the late 1800s. -JAMES HALLIDAY
