Founded by the late David Wynn for the benefit of winemaker son Adam, Mountadam was (somewhat surprisingly) purchased by Cape Mentelle (doubtless under the direction of Moet Hennessy Wine Estates) in 2000. Rather less surprising was its sale in '05 to Adelaide businessman David Brown, who has extensive interests in the Padthaway region. This acquisition was of the vineyard on the western side of the High Eden Road. In '07 David purchased a parcel of land on the opposite (eastern) side of the road, which was unplanted, and in '15 he acquired the large vineyard on the eastern side of the road from TWE, thus reassembling all of the land originally purchased by David Wynn in the late 1960s. The Brown family has decided that the original vineyard will be known as ‘Mountadam West', and the newly acquired vineyard as ‘Mountadam East'. Exports to the UK, France, Switzerland, Poland and Hong Kong.
