GS Wines

South Australia | Limestone Coast Zone

Our Review

Previously known as Greatstone Wines, this is a very large grapegrowing and winemaking enterprise, with industry veteran (and politician) Dale Baker on the board assisting Chief Executive Ken Waldron. Its major asset is the largest independent contract winery in the Coonawarra region, with a capacity of 3.5 million litres, and as well as handling fruit grown throughout the Limestone Coast takes grapes from as far away as the Riverland. The home vineyard is The Eliza Lawson Vineyard, with 150 ha of chardonnay, shiraz, cabernet, merlot and sauvignon blanc. It has four quite separate series of wines in its portfolio, the best known being Padthaway Estate (see separate entry). Much of the sales and marketing business is focused on Asia. -JAMES HALLIDAY
