James comes from a family with a modern history of more than 20 years in the wine industry. Kimberley is also a hands-on winemaker, having spent her early years with father Walter Clappis, a veteran McLaren Vale winemaker. Their vineyard is on the southern slopes of Whites Valley and has 18ha of shiraz and 3ha of cabernet sauvignon planted in 1996, and 2ha of old vine grenache planted in the '50s. They also buy Clare Valley grapes to make riesling.
