Mount Benson Estate

South Australia | Mount Benson

James' Review

Peter and Leah Wehl were the first to plant vines in the Mount Benson region, beginning the establishment of their vineyard (shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, merlot and sauvignon blanc), in 1989. While primarily grapegrowers, they have moved into winemaking via contract makers, and have increased the range of wines available.

Mount Benson Estate vines enjoy the rigours that the Southern Ocean cast our way, extending the growing and ripening season and producing grapes abounding with flavour and colour. Our passion starts in the vineyard and follows the grape finishing only, when the wine is enjoyed. Shiraz or syrah as we prefer and cabernet sauvignon is what we do really well. Single vineyard, single variety wines phenologically true, balanced with full flavours and intense colour, yet elegant, the bounty of our cool climate.
