Oak Works Wines

South Australia | Riverland

Our Review

Owner Peter Rogers has a full-time job with the CSIRO, Oak Works being a labour of love for his evenings and weekends. He has a decidedly unusual approach to making his red wines, eschewing the use of pumps and filters in the belief that they can oxidise the wine. However, all are matured in oak (mainly American) for 16-18 months prior to bottling, with obvious oak impact on the wines. All the grapes are purchased, each variety in very small amounts, from local experimental plots. Over the years he has made and released Zinfandel, Shiraz, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Merlot, Chambourcin, Durif, Tannat, Tinta Molle, Saperavi and Montepulciano. Exports to Denmark and Singapore. -JAMES HALLIDAY
