At family-owned Kingston Estate Wines, we've built our enviable reputation for consistently making quality wines that are so generous in flavour and superbly drinkable. A reputation that's under-pinned by our quest to capture South Australia's best regional qualities. In 1979 Sarantos and Constantina Moularadellis planted 40 acres of vines and when son Bill Moularadellis completed his oenology degree in 1985, Kingston Estate Wines was officially born. Today, Kingston Estate winery and vineyards continues to thrive under the fervent care of Bill and his family. Kingston Estate Wines encapsulates the very essence of what gives Australian family-owned wineries their great reputations today. Proud traditions are devotedly passed down from one generation to the next, and passion runs through our very veins. Here at Kingston Estate, family means everything as we continually strive to nurture our traditions and uphold our reputation for making exceptional quality wines that capture the best that South Australia can offer.
Kingston is the Petit Verdot specialist.Back in the late 1990's Bill Moularadellis had the foresight to pursue plantings of Petit Verdot realising how well suited Australia's warm climate was to this temperamental grape variety. Name from the French works meaning "little green one", the variety needs all of Australia's beautiful sunshine to ripen perfectly. Bill's foresight and resolve, when many in the wine industry doubted his vision, was rewarded when Petit Verdot emerged as the 'next big thing' and the 2002 Kingston Echelon Petit Verdot was awarded top gold at the 2003 Royal Melbourne Wine Show. Today Kingston's Petit Verdot (in the Kingston Echelon and Kingston Estate ranges) is considered by many as the benchmark for this variety in Australia as it consistently receives awards in major wine shows around the world.Kingston Estate Wines are now the largest single vineyard owner of Petit Verdot in Australia.
