Emma Bowley obtained her wine science degree from CSU, and after a varied career working for large Australian wine companies, and thereafter in the US and Italy, decided to turn her attention to smaller wineries where she could have a hands-on winemaking role. Emma works as a contract winemaker in the Clare Valley, while she and husband Guy have established a vineyard in Jamestown. One ha each of shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and riesling were planted in 2001, followed by 1.5ha each of mourvedre and shiraz the following year. -JAMES HALLIDAY
