Basils Farm

Victoria | Geelong

Our Review

Basils Farm is the venture of Jim and Tina McMeckan, who have had a holiday home on the Bellarine Peninsula for more than 30 years. In 2005 they discovered (and purchased) a property with stunning views across Swan Bay to Queenscliff, and it was on this property that they established Basils Farm. It has 3.86ha under vine (pinot noir, chardonnay and shiraz), the first full vintage from these plantings occurring in '18, supplemented in the meantime by purchased grapes grown on the Bellarine Peninsula. Wine is sold through the onsite cafe and cellar door, online, and wholesale in the Melbourne/greater Geelong region. The cafe uses its own farm-grown and locally sourced produce to create a seasonal menu. There are three brands: Pn2 (fruit for the Pn2 Prosecco is sourced from the King Valley), Basils Farm and Kiltynane (made from local fruit). -JAMES HALLIDAY
