Our Review
Higher Plane was purchased by Roger Hill and Gillian Anderson, owners of Juniper, in '06. The brand was retained with the intention of maintaining the unique aspects of the site in the south of Margaret River, distinct from those of Wilyabrup in the north. The close-planted vineyard is sustainably farmed using organic principles. Following the passing of Roger, son Tom now runs the business. Chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, and cabernet sauvignon are the major plantings, with smaller amounts of shiraz, malbec, fiano and verdejo. The aim is to craft wines of varieties and techniques not traditionally associated with the region. -JAMES HALLIDAY
