2014 Best white wines over 20

Riesling: A portent of the future? Three wines from WA, one from the Adelaide Hills, and one from the Clare Valley.

Semillon: There is no parallel to Hunter Valley semillon elsewhere in Australia – or in the world. This is both bane and blessing: an orphan immune from competition, but relatively unknown outside Sydney.

Sauvignon Blanc and blends: Three high quality wines that I would be happy to drink any time, anywhere, but seriously challenged by chardonnay.

Chardonnay: Without a shadow of a doubt, chardonnay is on the way back to the top, if not already there. Margaret River and Yarra Valley may claim bragging rights, but there is competition from everywhere.

Other whites: Other than the Marsanne, there was nothing to stand up to chardonnay in the tussle for space.
