Hardie Grant Publishing, publishers of James Halliday's titles, has been awarded Wine Publisher of the Year in the 2011 Gourmand Awards.
The Gourmand jury cited Hardie Grant’s quality and breadth of publications as a discerning factor in the their decision.
“[Hardie Grant has] a spectacular publishing program of multiple titles to quench the thirst of Australian and foreign readers for wine information and culture, including James Halliday Wine Companion guide and magazine as well as the Australian Beer Companion, or the Wine Regions of Victoria, App and printed book.” The Gourmand announcement read.
Hardie Grant, one of Australia’s largest independent publishing companies, has a strong focus on food and wine. Sandy Grant, CEO of Hardie Grant Publishing, believes that the company’s commitment to building these lists with high quality content and expanding into new platforms is key to their success.
“We are delighted to have our range of print and digital publishing properties recognised in this way. Obviously we have our authors and James Halliday in particular, to thank, but we have now spread our activities and are one of very few genuinely successful multi-platform publishers producing excellent wine content for consumers and on a custom basis,” said Sandy Grant.
This year has seen Hardie Grant’s wine list win a number of accolades including the Louis Roederer International Wine Book of the Year (2011) for Max Allen’s The Future Makers. As well as runner-up in the hotly contested Publishers Australia Excellence Awards 2011 “Best App on Mobile or Tablet Device” for The Wine Regions of Victoria.
