Pressing Matters, owned by leading barrister and fine wine fanatic Greg Melick, only produces 1000 cases a year, but was able to enter 17 wines in this month’s Royal Hobart Wine Show, walking away with two trophies, six gold, eight silver and two bronze medals, together with the accolade as Most Successful Tasmanian Exhibitor. The gold medals went to the ‘09 and ‘10 Block C Pinot Noir, but it was the botrytised rieslings that caught most attention, the ‘10 R139 (riesling) winning the Trophy for Best Sweet Wine, triumphing over the botrytis semillons in the show.
Pressing Matters email address for information is mail@pressingmatters.com.au, and the wines are distributed by Domaine Wine Shippers (www.domainewineshippers.com.au; ph (03) 9878 7848).
