What I'm Drinking...

1986 Lindemans HR Semillon Bin 6855

Publish Date: 23 Jul 2011

Classic Release in 1994. There was no ullage, but the colour in the bottle was ominously deep. With a reserve (screwcap) bottle available, I gave the Lindemans the benefit of the doubt, and opened the bottle. It was deep gold, though without green tints. It was unquestionably madeirised, but was quite rich in the mouth, so I though I would give it a go. Alas, within a few minutes it started to collapse, the colour changing as quickly as that of a salmon after spawning, moving from gold to gold-bronze, the palate likewise losing its fruit. If I ever get the time, there will be wholesale evictions from my cellar, and scavengers at the local tip will have their opportunity.. Slow-cooked lamb shanks.
