Owned by a group of investors from various parts of Australia who have successfully achieved their vision of producing fine wines and black truffles. The winemaking side is under the care of Mark Aitken, who, having graduated as dux of his class in applied science at Curtin University in 2000, joined Chestnut Grove as winemaker in 2002. The truffle side of the business is run under the direction of Harry Eslick, with 13 000 truffle-inoculated hazelnut and oak trees on the property, which have now produced truffles, some of prodigious size. A new cellar door sells the wines and (subject to seasonal availability) truffles. Exports to Japan.

The following information was provided by Truffle Hill Wines.

The complementary relationship between one of the world’s rarest gourmet foods, french black truffles, and fine Australian wines was behind our drive to grow and produce great wines that could sit comfortably alongside our gourmet truffles in the best restaurants. Hence our Truffle Hill Wines.

In 1998, the Wine & Truffle Co planted 30 acres of wine grapes and established approximately 50 acres trufferie of hazel and oak trees in a magnificent valley of rich karri soils on the Pemberton side of Manjimup.

Respected winemaker Mark Aitken developed our wine styles. Taking an ‘only the best will do’ attitude he capitalised on the characteristics of this unique West Australian wine region.
