Brett and Cheryl Lane purchased the 1-ha vineyard in 1996; it had been planted to riesling, chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and merlot over a 10-year period prior to its acquisition, but had been allowed to run down and needed to be rehabilitated. -JAMES HALLIDAY
