Our Review

Angus Vinden may be young in the context of regional winemakers, but he lacks neither moxie nor experience. A 2nd-generation farmer with 22ha under vine, Angus’ deft touch is due as much to his regional nous as to the mentorship of Glen Howard and the influence of his backyard sites. A traditional suite of semillon and shiraz galvanises the crowd at the Vinden cellar door, but for those seeking intrigue there are exciting tremors beyond. With the use of amphorae, long macerations and whole-bunch fermentations across varieties that augur well for the future, the atmosphere at Vinden is one of febrile excitement, strung across a bow of great possibility and high expectations. The tempranillos are possibly the finest in the country. Full and plump, but savoury and marked by a detailed tannic mettle and Hunter earthiness. The chenin, electrifying. Stay tuned! The Vinden Estate homestead offers a unique opportunity to stay on a working commercial winery in Pokolbin, the heart of the Hunter Valley. Stay in a magnificent Hunter Valley homestead with views to the Brokenback Ranges and surrounding Hunter Valley vineyards.

Vinden Estate is one of the Hunter Valley wine country’s most admired properties. Based on 1840s early Victorian architecture, the homestead boasts understated style and elegance. It features external stonework walls, 10 ft ceilings, two marble bathrooms with under floor heating, two open fireplaces, large dining and lounge areas, and French doors that open out to one of the most spectacular views in the area.

The Hunter Valley residence overlooks 10 acres of premium vineyard. A swimming pool, tennis court, courtyard, olive grove and lush gardens are set upon 25 acres of park-like grounds, completing one of the finest country estates in this region, and earmarking a destination that represents perfect relaxation!

Facilities

This impressive house includes accommodation for up to 12 persons, with 3 x King Size beds (two of which can be split into two extra long single beds), 1 x Queen size, and 2 Double beds easily accommodating your extended friends and family. A fully equipped country kitchen is at your disposal, as is the laundry, 2 marble finished bathrooms, as well as a separate toilet / vanity, spacious lounge and dining areas, swimming pool, BBQ and tennis court.
