Our Review
Max Staniford planted 0.2ha each of chardonnay, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and chambourcin in 1996 and '97, producing the first grapes in '98. The wines are estate-grown (hence the limited production) and all winemaking takes place onsite. The vineyard (chardonnay, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, chambourcin and tannat) is enclosed in permanent netting, and hand-picking the grapes ensures the exclusion of diseased fruit. -JAMES HALLIDAY
