The Hesketh Wine Company is a New World version of the French négociant éleveur, commonly known in Australia as a virtual winery, and owned by Jonathon Hesketh, wife Trish and children. Jonathon spent seven years as the Global Sales & Marketing Manager of Wirra Wirra, two and a half years as General Manager of Distinguished Vineyards in NZ working with the Möet Hennessy wine and champagne portfolio, plus the Petaluma group, and also had significant global responsibility for Mars Corporation over a four-year period. He also happens to be the son of Robert Hesketh, one of the key players in the development of many facets of the SA wine industry. The model for Hesketh Wine Company is to find wines that best express the regions they come from and closely monitor their production, but own neither vineyards nor a winery.

As a small, family owned producer of high quality wines, the Hesketh Wine Company works with local growers and processes their own fruit in the traditional method. But rather than follow the path most travelled and attempt to be all things to all people from one region, their approach is to focus solely on the strengths of various growing regions. This is done quite simply, for reasons of quality - to make better wine. Specific vineyards – Each wine is either single vineyard or sourced from a small selection of specific vineyards in each region. Fruit comes from specialised local growers, and the wines are made to retain a sense of place. Local processing – Each wine is made at local facilities as close as possible to the vineyards for reasons of both quality and practicality. House style – Wines are made to a ‘Hesketh’ style, which is based on balance and complexity but more importantly, ‘drinkability’. Wines with generous flavours and aromatics, which also retain a sense of place – wines which reflect the vineyards they are grown in. International approach – fruit sourcing focuses on South Australia’s premium growing regions, but also extends beyond the shores of Australia. This reflects the way the Hesketh family has always operated. The result is not only a range of wines from familiar varietals and regions, but also some new and exotic wines to help broaden our horizons and keep the knife sharp.
A range of wines which specialises only on what each region does best. Whether it be Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra, Shiraz from the Barossa or Sauvignon Blanc from the Adelaide Hills.
