Barossa Valley

How do you distil down 10 well-typed pages of background into a meagre few lines when it involves a cast of characters that are the very essence of all that is great about the Barossa Valley? It’s about a guy who first tried his hand at graphic design at university, switching to an architecture interior design course for two years (equally unfulfilling), then working around Australia, before spending three successful years gaining a diploma in hospitality business management. Next he headed overseas with his new wife Nicki, working a traumatic vintage in South Africa, then escaping to England to work anywhere, as backpackers do, with side trips to Europe. Their third and final trip to France was cut short by the discovery that Nicki was pregnant, forcing a return to Australia. So who is David Franz? Well, he is one of Margaret and Peter Lehmann’s sons, who has finally acknowledged that wine is in his blood. With help from his parents along the way, including some financial help, he established David Franz. And I personally know what it is like making wine with stainless-steel dairy mini-vats, plastic tubs, a hand-operated basket press and a one-inch mono pump. End of page one. Exports to the UK, the US, Canada, Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, Hong Kong and China.
