Wendy and Ezio Minutello began the establishment of the vineyard at 550 m on Mt Beauty in 1989, planted to pinot noir, chardonnay, pinot gris and merlot. Finally, in 1999, the first wines were released. Annapurna, the second-highest mountain after Mt Everest, is Nepalese for ‘goddess of bountiful harvest and fertility’. Ironically, it did not save the 2007 vintage, entirely lost to smoke taint.
