This is one of a portfolio of brands under the corporate umbrella of Australian Fermenters, founded and owned by Robert and Laurie Fraser-Scott. The other brands are Third Wheel, Birds of a Feather and Winston Lake Estate. Each has numerous labels, some as subsets (thus Birds of a Feather has six Reserve varietal wines and eight Humming Bird wines). In March 2011, there were 54 wines currently available, the common ground for all being Margaret River. The wines had phenomenal show success through to February ’11, quite unprecedented for a business only two years old. Equally remarkable is the price range of $14.99 to $19.99. The venture will doubtless evolve, and the size of the range may be trimmed, but seems nigh-on certain to continue to dramatically over-deliver on price.
