The Alchemists

Brad and Sarah Mitchell were metallurgists for 15 and 20 years respectively, working on gold and hydro-metallurgical plants, having studied metallurgy and chemistry at university. Now they see themselves as alchemists, changing grapes into wine. When they purchased the vineyard in 2007 it was already 11 years old, the prior owners having sold the grapes to various well-known Margaret River wineries. Since taking control of the vineyard, they have removed vines on unsuitable soil and grafted others, moves that have paid dividends, resourcing the winemaking team to make a series of wines that have been consistent medal winners at significant wine shows. -JAMES HALLIDAY
