The Barossa's Krondorf has released its 2024 collection. The wines include the 2020 121 Settlers Shiraz, 2022 Stone Altar Old Vine Grenache, 2022 Stone Altar Shiraz, and 2022 Kingship Cabernet Sauvignon.
This is Krondorf's fourth annual collection. Each wine comes from 'exceptional sites', along with a selection of old-vine vineyards. Krondorf's chief winemaker, Nick Badrice, has been making wine in the Barossa for more than two decades.
Nick grew up in the Barossa Valley. His father and grandfather were both active members of the wine industry, so wine has always been part of his life. After making wine across Australia, in regions including the Barossa Valley, Eden Valley, Yarra Valley, and Tasmania, 2024 marks Nick's 35th vintage.

"The wines encompass the 2020 and 2022 vintage seasons, two years that gave low yields but fantastic fruit quality. With the Barossa Valley being perfectly set up for growing outstanding fruit, it’s my job to intervene as little as possible and let the vineyard sites, vintage conditions, and fruit be reflected in the wines," says Nick.
Krondorf Wines was established in 1978, and it is the namesake of the small hamlet of Krondorf, which translates to 'crown village' in German.
“Our 2024 collection is a snapshot of our finest wines right now while also being a celebration of the Krondorf legacy. The wines are deep, generous, and brimming with Barossa character and, whilst drinking beautifully now, they will continue to reward with time in the cellar,” says Nick.
Krondorf recently opened its cellar door and wine bar in Tanunda. Guests can take part in self-guided tastings, a Barossa masterclass, and dine on local produce like anchovies, prosciutto, and a few Maggie Beer classics.
Dave Brookes' Krondorf tasting notes
2020 Krondorf 121 Settlers Shiraz Barossa Valley
The Krondorf brand, a famous old name in Barossan wine, has gone through a snazzy retrofit in recent times, and the wines across the range are very impressive indeed. Deep satsuma plum, black cherry and blackberry fruits bracketed by judicious cedary oak and hints of fruitcake spice, salted licorice, graphite, dark chocolate and panforte. Plush, ripe and velvety in its flow, with impressive density, pillowy tannins and a long, graceful finish. – Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion, 95 pointsRRP $110 | Drink to 2038
2022 Krondorf Stone Altar Old Vine Grenache Barossa Valley
Mid-magenta-splashed crimson with aromas of wild raspberry, red plum and strawberry fruits cut with hints of gingerbread, citrus blossom, dried citrus rind, barbecued meats, exotic spice and earth. Ripe, fruit-pure and packed with raspberry lift, layers of spice and floral facets and a lovely flow and presence on the palate; fine in tannin, sweet in fruit yet savoury, sapid and super moreish. – Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion, 93 pointsRRP $65 | Drink to 2030
